LafargeHolcim Maroc to launch cement plant by the end of 2021

The project has a budget of around 3 billion dirhams (about 0.82 billion US dollars). The plant will be able to produce 1.6 million tons of cement per year. The use of local cement will contribute to the development of the Souss-Massa region.

As part of the group’s ‘plant of tomorrow’ concept it is intended to use automation technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence and predictive maintenance to improve its production efficiency. The plant is also planning to use wind power and alternative fuels.

Since the start of construction in 2018, almost 1,400 people have been employed.
The company has also built new roads (3 and 8 km) to support the plant.
