Mordovcement is planning to launch another kiln

Due to the scheduled launch, the Western area of the Vankinsky quarry is being prepared for operation. The investment in this important industrial facility will exceed RUB 170 million. The new site will be ready by 2024.

Chalk resources at the Eastern area of the quarry are no longer sufficient, so it was decided to exploit a reserve deposit. The explored deposits in the Western area are about 20 million tonnes.

The investment will be used to repair high-voltage lines, construction and reconstruction of railway tracks, and repair of a walking excavator designed for uncovering works.

The excavator that will work on the reclamation of waste sites has already been repaired. Moreover, the fleet of quarry equipment will be reinforced with another chalk loading vehicle of about 5,000 tonnes capacity per shift.

Raw materials are delivered from the Vankinsky quarry to Mordovcement's "wet" production line.  Railway transport is used for its delivery. The chalk will be transported in self-dumping wagons with a carrying capacity of 105 tonnes.

"When the site is fully operational, we expect the delivery of chalk to become more stable, which will make it possible to start another rotary kiln at the plant," said Sergei Bochkarev, head of Mordovcement's mining division.
