The cost of cement exported through BUCE increased 5 times in first quarter of 2021

In the first quarter of 2021, the amount of transactions for the export of cement through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) amounted to USD 10.2 million, which is 5 times more than in January-March 2020.

According to the press office of BUCE, the Russian Federation remains the key sales market, which accounted for over 90% of the total export volume. In addition, Poland is being actively developed, as a result of which a number of large buyers have already come to the Belarusian exchange.

It was noted that almost the entire volume of cement that has been put up for export exchange trading is purchased by Russian companies. "Moreover, these are not one-time transactions, but long-term contracts for the supply of large consignments of product, amounting to tens of thousands of tons. Positive dynamics is also observed in the Polish market. It was possible to significantly increase the supply of Belarusian cement to this country by providing more flexible logistics," explained in the press office.

In particular, besides railway transportation, an opportunity was provided to deliver cement that was purchased at the exchange by road. "This option turned out to be in great demand among Polish buyers, therefore, in the future, further growth of interest in Belarusian products is expected on the part of residents of Poland," stated the press office of the exchange.

In 2020, BUCE sold 191 thousand tons of cement for a total amount of $ 9.2 million at its export auctions. Cement was supplied to Poland, the Baltic States, Russia and Ukraine.
