Three Types of Cement at the Maltsovsky Plant Receive European Standard Certificates

On Wednesday, November 27 a cement plant in the city of Fokino, Bryansk Region, has successfully passed the EU certification of three types of products. According to EUROCEMENT holding this opens up additional export opportunities.

Maltsovsky Portland Cement plant had CEMI 52.5N, CEMI 42.5R and CEMII/AS 42.5N types of cement certificated in accordance to the EN 197-1:2011 standard.

It took the lab of technical control at the factory three months to conduct a set of statistical tests. The team used to collect more than 30 samples with a certification center then selecting samples to send for research to an independent laboratory. The cements passed the certification and proved the quality characteristics in full.

EUROCEMENT is confident that with new EU-compliant certificates exporting to the European market became more viable. Now Maltsovsky plant can export four types of cement abroad (including CEMI 42.5N they certified for a few years ago). Maltsovsky Portland Cement plant is busy with active deliveries, which — in the company's opinion — confirms the demand for the plant’s products in foreign markets.

In 2017, the enterprise completed the modernization of the production and logistics complex worth 1.2 billion rubles. Three months ago, the plant changed the CEO to welcome Stefan Noev from the European Italcementi Group. When appointing Noev, EUROCEMENT emphasised his international experience in the cement industry.

The Maltsovsky Portland Cement factory was founded in 1899 near rich deposits of chalk and clay. The company's products were used for the construction of such facilities as the Dnieper hydroelectric station, the Volga-Don canal, the Druzhba oil pipeline, the Baikonur cosmodrome, the Smolensk nuclear power station, Moscow metro stations, the Stalin skyscrapers in Moscow, the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, the Olimpiysky sports complex, the Victory Memorial Complex at Poklonnaya Hill, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, an underground shopping complex on Manezhnaya Square, and sections of the Moscow Ring Road. Now it is one of the largest cement producers not only in Russia but also in Europe. The capacity of the enterprise is 4.7 million tons of cement per year.
