The Minister Judith Nabakooba commended the signing of a lease agreement between the Government of Uganda and the Naita-A-Tepeth Communal Land Association, marking a step toward the development of Uganda’s first Clinker factory by Tororo Cement Ltd in Katikekile, Moroto District.
She noted the strategic importance of the project: “Instead of continued import of the same raw material from Kenya and elsewhere—whereby the country was losing a lot in foreign exchange and revenue—His Excellency convinced the Chairman of Tororo Cement to invest in Moroto.”
Key outcomes from the agreement include: 500 acres sold in freehold to Tororo Cement for the factory site, 9,450 acres leased to the Government of Uganda.
