Tunisia: Les Ciments de Bizerte sees 30% drop in turnover in Q1

The company Les Ciments de Bizerte recorded a production of clinker of 161,000 tons in the first quarter, down 42,070 tons over the same period of 2021, which means a 20.7% decline.

The company’s cement production was 121,183 tons. This production decreased by 89,047 tons compared to the same period of 2021 which was 210,230 tons or a regression of 42%.

The production of lime also saw a 60% decline, or a decrease of 3,488 tons compared to the production of the same period of the year 2021.

This decline is due to the lack of demand for lime on the national market and at the sector.

It should be noted that the production of cement and lime are based on demand and the quantities produced have been made on this basis.

The production of cement and lime is in direct correlation with the quantities sold.

The overall turnover went down 30% compared to the year 2021 from 40.2 million dinars to 28 million, a decrease of 12.2 million.

The local turnover has dropped 38% compared to the same period 2021 from 34.6 million dinars to 21.5 million in 2022, a decrease of 13 million dinars.

As for the export turnover, it has saw a rise of 15% compared to the same period 2021 from 5.7 to 6.5 million dinars, an increase of 858 thousand dinars.

In addition, the outstanding debt of the cement company amounted to 132.5 million dinars at the end of last March, against 137.3 million at the end of December 2021.
