Turkey Increased Cement Exports in 8M 2020 by 53.8 %

In January-August 2020, Turkish enterprises exported 9.8 million tons of Portland cement, which is 53.8 % more than in January-August 2019. The export value increased by 44 % YoY, up to US$ 357.9 million. The main importers of Turkish cement were the United States (2.9 million tons, worth US$ 118.3 million) and Israel (1.5 million tons, worth US$ 47.8 million).

The most YoY growth in exports among the states of the post-Soviet territory, as per the Turkish customs service:
  • Ukraine (by 15 times, up to 718,300 tons);
  • Georgia (by four times, up to 113,300 tons);
  • and Turkmenistan (by 2.2 times, up to 21,000 tons).
The volume of export of Portland cement to the Russian Federation decreased by 32.7 % YoY, down to 34,100 tons.

The volume of exports to Libya also increased significantly, up to 269,300 tons against 131 tons in January-August 2019. The export value amounted to US$ 9.9 million.

Export shipments of Turkish cement show positive dynamics throughout the year. So in January-May, the growth was 38.9%, in January-April, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, - 48% compared to the same periods last year.
