Voronezh branch of EUROCEMENT Group becomes more environmentally friendly

EUROCEMENT Group’s Voronezh branch has achieved an additional reduction in environmental impact, as part of the green agenda implementation. In 2021, a number of measures were carried out for the repair and maintenance of equipment, as well as for the reclamation of the quarry.

Voronezh branch is fitted with the most modern equipment that meets international environmental standards and guarantees the safety of the plant for the environment. Production emissions here are significantly lower than the statutory indicators. The plant uses the latest technologies for cleaning emissions of pollutants in bag filters. This reduces dust emissions to 20 mg/m3, which corresponds to both Russian and European environmental standards.

The plant's specialists carry out timely maintenance and overhaul of bag filters and strictly observe the technological processes, which ensures reliable equipment operation in accordance with the declared operational characteristics. As a result of the measures taken, the indicators of measurements of the atmospheric air composition at the plant, carried out by an independent accredited laboratory, proved that the plant has minimal negative impact on the environment.

Also, in order to improve the ecological situation and restore the primary flora and fauna in the territories adjacent to the plant, Voronezh branch recultivates waste areas of its own «Alder Log» quarry in a timely manner.

By investing in modernization and environmental measures, EUROCEMENT Group contributes to the sustainable development of regions of its presence and to reducing the carbon footprint.

Galina Stelmashenko, Chief Engineer for Ecology, Industrial Safety and Labor Protection of the EUROCEMENT Group OOO Voronezh Branch: "An independent accredited laboratory conducts monitoring at the border of the sanitary protection zone of the Voronezh branch, outside it and in the residential area. The results of research over the past 6 years have not shown any excess in pollutants of permitted emissions into the atmosphere."

Elena Nikolaeva, Chief Surveyor of OOO Podgorenskiy Tsementnik: "Recultivation is measures to restore lands fertility by bringing them into a condition suitable for further use in accordance with the intended purpose. These works are carried out in parallel with the work on the raw materials extraction, following the dump work with an interval of one year. Mining reclamation includes the layout of the surface of the internal dump, the application of a fertile layer of soil and its finishing layout. This year it is planned to hand over 3.43 hectares of reclaimed land. These areas will be used in agriculture for pastures and haymaking."
