Experience with the OK vertical roller mill for grinding cement and slag

Over the last decade FLSmidth has commissioned a large number of OK mills installed worldwide for grinding a wide variety of products. Based upon the unique design of the OK mill and the experience from installation and operation of the mills commissioned FLSmidth has established a strong basis for consistently providing the cement industry with high-efficiency and reliable roller mills for cement and slag grinding. OK mills grind not only Ordinary Portland Cement and slag, but also blended cements with a wide range of additives such as slag, puzzolan, limestone and fly ash.
An overview of recent operating information and experience from OK mills in operation will be presented in this paper giving particular emphasis to benefits being most important to the cement producers. Such benefits may obviously involve compliance with expected performance, low energy consumption, high reliability, versatility and ease and cost of maintenance, all coincident with unconditional compliance with requirements to the product quality.
