Metakaolin
Metakaolin is an artificial pozzolana obtained by calcining kaolinite-type clays. Metakaolin can replace a part of Portland cement in the concrete without damage to its properties, and more, to produce concrete with improved characteristics (high-quality concrete). Among the known active mineral additives metakaolin is unique because it is a product with stable characteristics that gives concrete certain advantages. Metakaolin can be produced at relatively low temperatures without greenhouse gas emissions that would be comparable in scale to those in the production of cement clinker. These advantages attract more and more interest to metakaolin on the part of cement and concrete manufacturers.Author: A.S. Brykov |
