A new design of three-stage gearboxes for vertical roller mills

A new design of three-stage WPV gearboxes from FLSmidth MAAG Gear with bevel and planetary stages, equipped with sleeve bearings, made the unit very compact. Ever-growing customers’ demands made the company to change the gearbox dimensions, so that it could be installed under any existing vertical roller mill. The required number of different types of gearboxes was also reduced, with the three-stage gear units being able to cover the full range of capacities and sizes of existing grinding tables. Smaller, standardized components, such as planetary wheels, and the redesigned other parts have enabled the company to produce cast parts and bodies, which made it possible to reduce the weight and improve handling and maintenance characteristics.
