Utilization of metakaolin as a replacement for cement in the ultra-lightweight thermal-insulating plasters
When designing and manufacturing the lightweight thermal insulation plasters with very low density, we very often have to deal with the problem of optimizing the thermal insulation and mechanical properties. This paper describes the results from the field of development of lightweight thermal insulation plasters with very low density on the basis of light porous aggregates and inorganic binder. As a binder, there was a mixture of lime putty or lime hydrate and Portland cement used in the first phase of the research. The paper deals with the possibility of replacing the Portland cement by metakaolin which should, with the same dosing, significantly improve the ratio of thermal insulation and mechanical properties of hardened thermal insulating plaster.Author: R.
