Crystal structure and polymorphism of dicalcium silicate
The article cites the results of investigations into phase transformations of dicalcium silicate with the use of a high-temperature X-ray method and the photomethod.Possible mechanisms and sequence of polymorphic transformations of Ca_2SiO_4 are discussed in view of the fact that the phase transition is determined by the difference between the internal energy values of polymorphic phases, the greater being this difference the lower the probability of phase transition.
The results obtained give grounds to assume the probability of existence of additional high-temperature dicalcium silicate modifications that differ from the known types by the multiplicity of the parameters of the elementary cell.
