The use of MPS vertical roller mills in the production of cement and blast furnace slag powder.

An MPS 3750 C mill supplied by Gebr. Pfeiffer AG was the world's first vertical roller mill to be used for finish-grinding cement. The plant went into operation at the Teutonia cement works, based in Hanover, Germany, in 1980. To date the plant has produced various different cements, the properties of which fully conform to the relevant standards and meet the market requirements in Germany.
The MPS 5600 BC with an installed grinding table drive rating of 5300 kW is so far the largest mill sold in this series, which is especially geared to the requirements and conditions of grinding clinker and granulated blast furnace slag. Only two weeks after its commissioning this mill was producing 110 t/h of blast furnace slag powder with a specificsurface ranging between 5000 and 5500 cm^2/g acc. to Blaine. In the case of Portland cement with 3000 cm^2/g acc. to Blaine, the capacity would lie above , 250 t/h
