The «Hot Alignment» diagnostic package.
The paper describes a fundamentally new method for improving performance reliability of rotary cement kilns. The Hot Alignment represents a set of diagnostic and control operations carried out without shutting down and unloading the kiln, i.e. when it is hot. The results of the alignment are used to perform manual adjustment of the kiln in order to eliminate misalignments and defects identified in the diagnostic process. The described techniques of determining the position of the kiln in the horizontal and vertical planes, radial and butt beat of major supports, checking the status of drives, thrust rollers, the kiln shell, and building a computer model of the kiln make a high-quality mechanical adjustment possible and provide a high economic effect.Author: A.B.
