Alkali-activated binders: an alternative to Portland cement

The current trends in production of alkali-activated binders and of concrete on their basis are discussed. An attempt at classification of alkali-activated binders is made. The data on the effect of heat-treated rice husk (HTRH) on the normal thickness of cement paste and the time of its setting, as well as on the strength of the slag-lime cement stone. The compositions and properties of the concretes based on slag-lime binders are described. The dependence of the structural characteristics of such concretes on their pore structure is established.
