Gas exchange trading in Russia for consumers in the cement industry

How can cement factories plan and carry out purchases of energy resources in the best way, while the main resource, as a rule, being natural gas? Today the answer is quite simple – using commodity exchange technologies. In Russia exchange trading in commodities has been in operation for many a year. The only marketplace for gas trading in Russia is the St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (SPbMTSB). Exchange trade in this type of fuel started in October 2014 and over time gained significant momentum, its development being supported at the top government level. Since the beginning of trading, cement companies have highly appreciated the advantages of commodity exchange mechanisms. At the same time, a number of companies are still only looking at the opportunities of the market. The potential of this tool is discussed in the article.
