Novel cements based on calcium hydrosilicates.

A new class of isochemical hydraulic binders, based on the formation of hydraulic active calciumhydrosilicates (hCHS), offers a new approach to the production of pure C-S-H hydraulic binders. This development is based on results from fundamental research on the hydration mechanisms of pure calciumsilicates performed by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In 2009 Celitement GmbH was founded together with SCHWENK Zement KG as the industrial partner, to bring this idea of a pure C-S-H binder to an industrial level. The process technological development is nearly finished an first samples from a small pilot plant have been distributed since mid 2016 to selected innovators to get first hand feedback with respect to product properties an performance.
