Cement and clinker exports from Black Sea and Baltic
Some cement producers in Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions may consider potential exports when facing depressed domestic markets to allocate their excess capacities of cement and clinker in export markets. Black Sea export sources are located in disadvantage positions vis-a-vis Mediterranean export countries like Algeria, Greece (nowadays Algeria is closest towards current import markets), and the Russian Baltic export sources near St. Petersburg - vis-a-vis other countries of the Baltic region. In this context, Low CAPEX projects are mandatory if exports are planned in a sustainable mode: quick payback and depreciation of export assets are mandatory in an extremely volatile business like the international trade of cement and clinker.Author: M.
