Modification of cement systems with nanoparticle-based additives. History of application, current state, prospects

Nanoparticles in mortar and concrete mixtures have a positive effect on the physical and mechanical characteristics of mortars and concretes - strength, modulus of elasticity, density, impermeability, resistance to corrosive factors - provided they are thoroughly dispersed. The prospects of using substances in the nanodispersed state in the formulation of cement mortars and concretes are associated with their special or unique properties (concretes of ultra-high strength and durability, "smart" concretes). However, the large-scale commercial use of nanocomponents is constrained by economic reasons and the technical complexity of uniform distribution of small amounts of nanoadditives in the mortar or concrete mixes.
