Armenia extends cement import ban for another six months

Armenia has introduced a temporary restriction on cement imports into the country, the procedure of import licensing and the form of the main license. The decision was made at the session of the Armenian Government.

In particular, it was decided to extend the temporary ban on cement import for another 6 months - until January 19, 2025. The reasoning of the decision states that as a result of such a ban, favorable conditions have been created for local cement producers to compete with cement imported from third countries in the domestic market. In particular, Armenia produced 1.14 million tons of cement in January-December 2023. This is by 13.1% more than in the previous year. In January-December 2023, the import of clinker also increased, amounting to 125.2 thousand tons. (growth - 19.2%).
