Some European countries are implementing The PaperChain project. The goal within its framework is to recycle waste from the paper and pulp industry in Europe. Currently, the industry's annual production is 130 million tonnes. 11 million tons are turned into waste that cannot be returned to the production cycle. The PaperChain Initiative is part of a broader industrial strategy in Europe to ensure a sustainable approach to natural resources.
One example of the initiative is a new motorway section near Valencia, Spain, where paper ash is used instead of cement. In addition to waste disposal, the benefit lies in the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
