Belarusian Ministry of Energy to Provide $4 million to Krasnoselsky Cement Plant

Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus will provide Krasnoselskstroimaterialy with 8.5 million Belarusian rubles (about 4 million dollars) to purchase technological equipment, construct and renovate production facilities for processing of peat fuel. The decision was made official and published on Friday, December 20.

According to the document, the funds to be allocated on non-repayable terms in 2019-2020 from an extrabudgetary centralized investment fund. The funds should be used by the plant specifically to increase the use of peat fuel in cement production. The Ministry of Architecture and Construction will monitor the expenditure.

Krasnoselskstroymaterialy — part of the Belarusian Cement Company — is the largest producer of building materials in the country. The plant has a design capacity of 1.6 million tons of cement per year.

In September, the State Control Committee of Belarus announced that over 1 billion budget rubles invested earlier in the modernization of cement plants in Belarus did not bring expected returns.

Shortly after the September speech of the State Control Committee, Belarusian Cement Company announced that it would centralize the procurement system to reduce production costs, with the intent to supply even more cement to the European Union and develop fuel-saving technologies.
