Cement exports from Iran reached 3.4 million tons in 10 months

According to the secretary of the Iranian Cement Association, 3.4 million tons of cement and 7 million tons of clinker were exported from Iran in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 to January 20).

"The total cement production for 10 months reached 52.6 million tons, which is 7% less compared to the same period last year," Abdolrez Sheikhan was quoted by the Mehr news agency, adding that 60.5 million tons of clinker were produced during the year.

The official noted that cement production has decreased due to a lack of power supply to factories and a drop in domestic demand for building materials.

The supply of gas and electricity to cement plants was limited due to the growth of domestic consumption.

The capacity of cement production in the country is 85 million tons, of which 65 million tons are consumed domestically.

According to the US Geological Survey in 2020, Iran ranked seventh in the world in cement production with a production volume of 60 million tons.

The rating has not changed compared to 2019.

Iran was the eighth largest cement producer in the world in 2018 with 58 million tons, and Turkey was the seventh largest producer with 72.5 million tons.

However, as production in Turkey declined in 2019, Iran took seventh place.
