Cement import ban lifted in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan lifted a ban on the import of cement from third countries as of July 23, 2021. Thus, cement clinkers, Portland cement, other Portland cement, alumina cement, hydraulic cements (FEACN code of the Eurasian Economic Union 2523100000, 2523290000, 2523300000, 2523900000) can be imported from third countries. This was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MIID).

The MIID expects that the lifting of the import ban will help saturate the market in the western regions and serve as a factor in reducing the price of cement products in the country.

The ban on imports of cement from third countries was introduced on May 25, 2021 to support domestic producers of cement industry.

The order to abolish the ban on imports of cement from third countries was adopted after the public raised questions about the increase in cement prices and the lack of cement in the domestic market.
