Cement is among the products that support national exports of the Dominican Republic

Cement is consolidating itself as one of the industrial products that contribute to the export performance of the Dominican Republic, forming part of the chemical and mineral sector, one of the three major sectors that account for 85.9% of national exports, according to a recent analysis by the Regional Center for Sustainable Economic Strategies (CREES).

According to data from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) cited by CREES, during the January-June 2026 period, national exports reached US$3,336.8 million, representing a growth of 35.1% compared to the same period in 2025. Of this amount, the chemical and mineral sector accounted for US$295 million, equivalent to 8.8% of national exports, with cement and copper among its main products. Both products together represented 4.8% of the total exported.

“Cement is an example that the Dominican Republic has national industries capable of producing at scale, meeting domestic demand, and generating foreign currency through exports. Behind every ton exported, there is investment, employment, productive linkages, and industrial capacity installed in the country,” stated Jorge David Pérez, president of ADOCEM.
