According to data from the Bolivian National Statistics Institute (INE), in the first eight months of 2024, Bolivia's cement production was 2.638 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, and cement sales and cement consumption were 2.607 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%, both of which hit record highs.
Alfaro, manager of the Bolivian Cement and Concrete Institute (IBCH), said the data showed that the Bolivian construction industry was gradually recovering.
INE data also showed that of the 2.638 million tons of cement produced in the first eight months of 2024, Santa Cruz produced 699,062 tons of cement. Next came La Paz (679,317 tons), Chuquisaca (510,841 tons), Cochabamba (384,329 tons), Oruro (214,660 tons) and Tarija (150,068 tons). Of the 2.607 million tons of cement sold from January to August 2024, Santa Cruz sold 693,931 tons. Then came Chuquisaca (510,711 tons), La Paz (466,273 tons), Oruro (422,973 tons), Cochabamba (355,145 tons) and Tarija (150,849 tons). Santa Cruz has been the main market for Bolivian cement for many years. It has a large population and ranks first in production, sales and consumption.
