Recently, the demand for cement has been growing, while the capacity of railroads remains limited. Moreover, there is another problem - shortage of railcars, which contributes to the increase of cement transportation time by 36-38 % per year.
At the same time, expansion of the company's own fleet is accompanied by additional costs and difficulties in shifting the focus to road transportation. This, in turn, leads to an increase in logistics costs by 15-25 %.
In summer, at the peak of the construction season, the situation may lead to disruption of cement supplies to the regions of Siberia, the Volga region, the Urals, the south and the North Caucasus. This may result in a shortage of construction materials in these regions.
Thus, for example, in January-April the average period of transportation of loaded cars of Mordovcement increased by 86%, up to 10.6 days, and of empty cars - by 36%, up to 7.2 days. For Nevyansk Cementnik, the indicators increased by 28% (to 6.1 days) and 78% (to 5.8 days) respectively. The speed of single shipments through the Gorky railroad decreased from 105 km to 45 km per day over the year.
In turn, Achinsk Cement, which is located next to the Krasnoyarsk railroad, is experiencing difficulties with the delivery of hopper cement trucks. This creates risks for the launch of the third production line: in Siberia railroad transportation has no alternatives.
CEMROS admits that cement supply problems will affect the Urals, Siberian and Volga districts.
