Krasnoyarsk Cement Plant celebrates the launch of a new grinding unit

Krasnoyarsk Cement LLC (a subsidiary of Sibcem Holding Company) officially launched a new grinding division. A new 4.0×13.5 metre clinker-grinding mill with a capacity of up to 100 tonnes of cement per hour, operating in a closed cycle (with a separator), was put into operation.

The facilities necessary for stable operation of the grinding department were also commissioned: slag and gypsum feeding gallery, clinker and additives tanks, communication and cement pipelines trestle, closed clinker storehouse with galleries, cement silos for shipment of end products to motor transport, substation No. 7 and air supply network sections, local storm water sewage treatment facilities, clinker distribution and feeding system from kilns No. 3, 4, 5. In addition, the central compressor room was re-equipped with a turbine compressor.

The process chain consists of the following stages: transportation, unloading and feeding of clinker to the cement mill through the storage area of the production facility to cement storage and shipment by road and railway transport.

The project cost exceeds RUB 3 billion.

This project is of high importance both for the company and for the consumers. For several years, the market has been showing an increasing demand for finely ground high quality products. The applied closed-cycle grinding technology will allow to produce high quality cements compared to cements produced by open-cycle mills.

The commissioning of the new unit will allow the plant to increase the output of segregated products. Moreover, the project has a lesser impact in the environment: the new mill of the Grinding Shop is equipped with modern bag filters and high efficiency gas cleaning units.

In addition, construction of a closed clinker storage facility has been completed.  It has a capacity of 45,000 tonnes, which will eliminate dusting during storage and handling of the product, as well as a silo complex with a total capacity of 16,000 tonnes, equipped with a state-of-the-art aspiration unit.

The four cement storage silos will use new unloading technologies to avoid the formation of so-called dead residue - a certain amount of cement that is virtually impossible to remove from the silos using existing technologies.

The vehicle loading system is equipped with automatic loading devices to help avoid cement dust emissions into the atmosphere. The products will be fed into the vehicles directly on the scales, ensuring high accuracy and speed of loading. The new cement silos have been positioned to take into account the specifics of in-plant logistics, which will significantly reduce the waiting time for vehicles before they are loaded.

“Thanks to the commissioning of a new section of the Grinding Shop, the company will be able to fully supply consumers in the Krasnoyarsk Region and other regions with high quality fine ground cement. The plant will double the production of segregated cement. Thus, we will meet the growing needs of the regional market and improve the environmental sustainability of production," emphasised Dmitry Kireev, Managing Director of Krasnoyarsk Cement LLC.
