Lending to the construction sector increased in Azerbaijan

As of early July 2021, lending to the construction sector in Azerbaijan increased by 75.2% compared to the same period last year. Lending to the construction sector during the specified period reached 737.3 million manat.

Long-term loans accounted for 324.4 million manat (68.7%). Loans were issued in the national currency in the amount of 194.8 million manat, and in foreign currency - in the amount of 129.7 million in the equivalent.

Short-term loans in the construction sector amounted to 147.5 million manat, or 31.3 percent of the total lending to this sector. Of these, loans in the national currency accounted for 87.2 million manat, and in foreign currency - 60.3 million in manat equivalent.

Loans were mainly allocated to private institutions. At the same time, loans in national currency amounted to 59.7% (282 million manat) of the total lending to the construction sector, in foreign currency - 40.3% (190 million in manat equivalent).

The share of construction in lending to the real sector was 4.8%, which is 1.9% more than in the same period of 2020.
