Noida International Airport (NIA) has become India's first large-scale project to utilise limestone calcined clay cement (LC3), a low-carbon alternative to traditional cement.
Noida airport, which has set a net-zero emissions goal, is set for an Oct 30 launch with one runway and terminal.
Philippe Sas, head of international cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan, said use of LC3 in Noida airport paves way for its large-scale commercial production and use in India and abroad.Cement majors, including JK Cement, UltraTech, Dalmia Bharat, Shree Cement, and JK Lakshmi, have already announced plans to produce LC3 commercially, giving a push to sustainable growth in the world's second-largest cement market.
