President of Uzbekistan signs decree on construction of "New Andijan"

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On measures of effective organization of work on construction of Yangi Andijon (New Andijan) city" on 12 July.

In accordance with the document a Republican Commission on the organization and coordination of work on the construction of the "New Andijan" is established. It will be headed by the country's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

In the framework of the first stage of the city construction the administration, by agreement with the Republican commission, may attract at its own expense highly qualified foreign specialists and consultants to participate in the work on designing and construction of facilities, to conduct the architectural and technical supervision on the basis of direct contracts.

Cement products and rolled metal for the construction of high-rise residential buildings in the city are supplied to contractors in accordance with the order of sale of cement and rolled metal on a separate exchange trading section.

On June 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the first stone on the construction site of the New Andijan city. The new city is supposed to be built in eight stages in 2021-2041, it will be inhabited by more than 440 thousand people. The total area of the city will be 4,000 hectares, of which 2,000 hectares will be occupied by housing and social facilities, industrial zones and service facilities, while the remaining area will be green zones.
