Cement Dispatches by Rail in Russia Show Signs of Recovery

Cement dispatches by rail recover as Russian Railways reports an increase of 29 % MoM, up to 2.422 million tons. However, there is still a 7.3 % YoY decrease to cover, as 5M 2020 results indicate.

Enterprises of the Volga Federal District lead in dispatches volume with 647,000 tons, accounting for 29 % of all railroad dispatches in May. 

The top three volumes of railroad dispatches by enterprises (May 2020):

  • Mordovcement — 257,800 tons,
  • Topkinsky cement — 135,800 tons,
  • Sebryakovcement — 178,000 tons.

In top three by export volumes by railroad are (May 2020):

  • Maltsovsky Portland Cement — 57,700 tons,
  • South Ural Mining and Processing Company — 27,600 tons,
  • Topkinsky Cement — 7,600 tons.

According to the results of January-May 2020, export dispatches by rail decreased by 12.2 % YoY, down to 362,500 tons.

Top three export dispatches by rail by country (5M 2020):

  • Belarus — 173,500 tons,
  • Kazakhstan — 143,800 tons,
  • Finland — 21,400 tons. 

On the other hand, imports by rail in 5M 2020 increased by 21.4 % YoY, up to 364,500 tons. Belarusian cement exports by rail were up by 17.8 % YoY (up to 243,900 tons), and Kazakhstan imports increased by  17 % YoY (up to 102,600 tons).
