Salonit Anhovo to become Alpacem Cement Slovenia

The construction material manufacturer Salonit Anhovo, which is majority owned by the Austrian company Wietersdorfer Alpacem, is taking over the name of its owner. As the shareholders agreed at general meeting, the company will now be called Alpacem Cement Slovenia. The word Slovenia will be added to the name if they get permission from the government.

The proposal to change the company’s name was presented at the general meeting by the president of the board Tomaž Vuk. “We have been considering changing the brand for several years, now we think the moment is right,” he said. The trend in the cement industry is for brands to connect into larger entities, which represent additional security for customers, so that they can also cope with the new challenges of decarbonization, he added.

At the general meeting, the minutes of which are published on the Ajpes website, Vuk reminded that Salonit Anhovo falls under the auspices of the Alpacem group, and that his current company no longer represents the activity it actually performs. The umbrella brand Alpacem is already used within the Salonit group. In addition to the word Alpacem, they decided to add another part to the company that indicates the company’s activity.

The shareholders thus unanimously confirmed that the company Salonit Anhovo Gradbeni materialis is changing to Alpacem Cement Slovenija. The word Slovenia will be added to the company if all legal requirements are met.

In addition to the company Wietersdorfer Alpacem, Salonita is also owned by the Italian company Buzzi Unicem with a 25% ownership share. The remaining 0.48 percent of the shares are owned by small shareholders.

At the general meeting, the shareholders also got acquainted with the operations in 2022 and concluded that, of the 43.3 million euros in balance sheet profit as of December 31, 2022, 10 million euros will be allocated to the payment of dividends. The dividend per share amounts to EUR 11.35 gross. They also granted discharge to the members of the management board and the supervisory board.

Vuk described last year’s operations as successful. Production increased by about one-third, he said, adding that they were facing problems related to the prices of energy, materials and raw materials. Due to the increase in the prices of materials, they also increased the prices of their products, which did not reduce the volume of sales. At the end of 2022, the net profit reached 23.7 million euros.

Salonit Anhova employs 362 workers and, as the company announced today, it also operated successfully in the first half of this year. It ensured regular supplies of cement to all customers and was among the first to introduce a new type of cement on the market, which represents the optimal choice in the production of low-carbon concrete for a wide range of applications, they wrote.
