Saudi Arabia’s Cement Production up by 24.4 % in 8M 2020

The volume of cement production by Saudi Arabian enterprises in January-August 2020 amounted to 33.95 million tons, which is 24.4% more than in January-August last year. Clinker production increased by 5.6% to 32.32 million tonnes. Cement shipments to consumers amounted to 33.56 million tons (up by 23.3 % YoY). The volume of cement shipped to customers in August amounted to 4.32 million tons (up by 38 % YoY).

The five leaders in terms of shipment volumes in 8M 2020 are Southern Province Cement Company (5.11 million tons), Saudi Cement (3.99 million tons), YSCC (3.00 million tons), QACCO (2.86 million tons) and Yanbu Cement (2.82 million tons).

The volume of cement exports in 8M 2020 increased by 9.1 % YoY, up to 1.35 million tons. Clinker exports in 8M 2002 decreased by 40.8 % YoY, down to 2.48 million tons.

As part of the Saudi Vision 2030 program, one of the tasks of which is to diversify the economy and reduce the kingdom's oil dependence, the state planned to invest US$ 25.6 billion in the cement industry.
