Shuntai Investments has announced plans to build a second cement production line in Zvishavane, located in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province. The EPC contract for the new clinker production line, with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes per day, has been awarded to a Chinese engineering company.
The project marks another step in Shuntai Investments’ expansion in Zimbabwe. The company’s first project in the country, an 1,800 tpd clinker production line in Shegutu, is currently nearing completion.
The decision to increase production capacity comes amid growing cement demand in Zimbabwe, driven by infrastructure development, residential construction, and the needs of the mining sector.
Once both production lines become operational in 2027, Shuntai Investments’ total cement production capacity is expected to reach nearly 3.0 million tonnes per year. This will enable the company to supply more than 40 % of Zimbabwe’s domestic cement market.
