SLK Cement improves its own fleet of trucks

SLK Cement continues to improve its own logistics system. Company’s main goal is to ensure uninterrupted cement delivery to the customers. According to the company’s press service, 70 more new gondola cars were delivered to the plant in October.

Evgeny Grishchenko, SLK Cement Logistics Director, said that the loading of the previous gondola train is up to 70 tons and the lift capacity of the new gondola cars is up to 75 tons, which makes it possible to increase the loading volume with the same number of units in the railway train, and thus reduce the risk of a freight transport shortage.

The company is increasing its fleet of trucks to eliminate the shortage of wagons and hopper cement trucks in the summer, when cement shipment reaches its maximum during the construction season.

In addition, according to SLK Cement, a regular increase in the number of railway vehicles makes it possible to ensure timely delivery to the Ural Federal District customers – the main market for the company's products, regardless of the season, as well as to its own cement terminals located in different regions of the country.

Currently, SLK Cement railway-yard is about 600 units, the company transports almost 30% of the cement supplied by its own wagons and hoppers (out of total rail transport volume).

SLK Cement is part of Buzzi Unicem in the Eastern Division of Dukkerhoff. Buzzi Unicem is a corporation located in Italy, which unites plants in 14 countries with more than 10,000 employees worldwide.
