The second process line renovation has started at Spasskcement

This is the most large-scale renovation in the 50-year history of Novospassky Cement Plant (part of Vostokcement Group). The upgrade of technological equipment had been under preparation for several years. The investment amounts to about 1 billion 350 million rubles.

The renovation will result in clinker cooler replacement in the rotary kiln, replacement of the Aerofol raw mill in the raw materials department, installation of a new aeration system for raw materials silos No. 3 and No. 4. The works are being done in several stages and are being carried out simultaneously.

Anton Sysoev, Deputy Manager for Development and Upgrading of JSC “Spasskcement”, reports that on January 20 the second technological line was halted and the company's employees started dismantling the clinker cooler. In two weeks they will have to remove 600 tons of old metal and install a new cooler, which will increase the kiln performance, reduce fuel and electricity costs for clinker production and ensure a stable process.

Currently, 145 specialists are working on site. 105 of them are dismantling the cooler, 40 of them are assembling auxiliary equipment, and then they will proceed to the cooler installation.

Anton Sysoev also noted that for the first time since 1977 the aeration system of raw material silos No. 3 and 4 will be cleaned and replaced. The new system will ensure stable unloading of silos and feeding the kiln with raw meal.

“We are carrying out refractory lining replacement works on rotary kiln No. 2.  Now we have started removing the refractory of the cold and hot end of the rotary kiln by ourselves, and then a contracting organization will join the process,” said Artyom Singur, Deputy Executive Production Manager.

Chief mechanic Alexander Alfyorov emphasized that one of the most important components of the repair is the replacement of the Aerofol mill in the raw material department. The last time it was partially renovated in 1989. Currently, the shell of the mill is being replaced.

The company aims to complete this large-scale repair in 4 months. The upgrade will increase efficiency and ensure uninterrupted equipment performance.
