Canadian climate technology company and international building materials producer TITAN Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to validate a new low-carbon cement production technology.
The partners plan to carry out laboratory testing of electrochemical limestone-splitting technology, followed by technical and commercial assessments. If successful, the companies will consider pilot deployment of the solution across TITAN’s production facilities.
The technology uses electricity to separate limestone into calcium hydroxide and a concentrated CO₂ stream prior to the kiln stage. According to the company, this approach can reduce emissions from cement production by up to 85 % compared to conventional methods, while remaining compatible with existing infrastructure.
The partnership is seen as a step toward accelerating decarbonization in the cement industry. For TITAN it expands its portfolio of innovative solutions as part of its sustainability strategy and the «TITAN Forward 2029» growth plan.
