Ulyanovsk Cement Revival: the plant is launched after 6 years of shutdown

Ulyanovsk Cement is about to be operational after six years of shutdown. Evgeny Sokolov, the plant's manager, shared details about the plant's revival.

Despite the fact that the plant was shut down for six years, technical specialists worked at the site all this time. They kept the main production assets in decent condition. Due to this, it was possible to prepare the plant for operation in less than a year.

"There is a shortage of cement in the Volga region. The growth of consumption in the medium term was predicted by CEMROS analysts as early as 2022. Last summer, this was confirmed - in particular, Tatarstan experienced a deficit. In order to meet this demand, the company decided to decommission its facilities in Novoulyanovsk," explained the director of Ulyanovskcement.

According to Evgeny Sokolov, it took about 600-700 million rubles to prepare for the start of operations. However, at the same time an investment project is underway to install new separation equipment required to produce cement of higher quality - that's another 600-700 million.

At the moment the enterprise is receiving new special equipment. A bulldozer and a loader have already been added to the fleet, and a new power substation has been installed at the deposit for reliable power supply to the quarry. A new mobile fuel tanker has also arrived at the enterprise, and delivery of a flatbed truck with a lifting capacity of 8.3 tons is expected in the near future.

The plant also invests in major repairs of the existing equipment: 4 dump trucks have already been completely upgraded.

The plant expects to produce cement from raw materials extracted from local quarries by the beginning of summer.

"Now works are underway to complete the technical control laboratory with modern equipment, upgrade of the automated process control and monitoring system and many other works are planned. This year we will also start working on the second line, it will cost about half a billion rubles," says Evgeny Sokolov.

The enterprise will provide the Ulyanovsk region with cement, as well as Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara.

"If there is a need, we will gradually reach full capacity - about 2 million tons of cement per year," concluded the director of Ulyanovskcement.
