The facility will be built in Pagny-sur-Meuse, Meuse, in France’s Grand Est region. The project represents an investment of approximately 7 million EUR.
The facility will produce up to 34,000 tonnes of SRF per year, with a maximum design capacity of 40,000 tonnes. Most of the fuel will be supplied to Vicat’s Xeuilley cement plant, which produces low-carbon cement. The project follows a short supply-chain model, with the production and consumption sites located less than 50 km apart.
Replacing fossil fuels with SRF will avoid approximately 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, while reducing the landfilling of non-recyclable waste with high calorific value.
The project is supported by the Grand Est region and aims to develop a local circular waste-to-energy model, reduce fossil fuel consumption and strengthen the energy resilience of cement production.
