Freight One Increases Volume of Building Materials Shipments in Volga Region in 2020

Manufacturers of building materials in the middle and lower Volga region increase shipments of their products (primarily cement) by rail using the services of the largest Russian privately-owned operator 2 (‘Pervaya Gruzovaya Kompaniya’). 

In January-February 2020, ‘HeidelbergCement Volga’ plant in the city of Volsk, Saratov Region, increased shipping by 200%, up to 41,000 tons. Sebryakovcement plant in the Volgograd region — by 10%, up to 29 thousand tons.

Freight One nearly doubled the volume of building materials shipped in two months of the year compared to January-February 2019 (up to 28,000 tons). Cargo turnover in building materials segment increased by 66%, to 22.4 million tons/km.

In two months, the supplier of inert construction materials Kronverk NMK increased the freight turnover by more than three times. The enterprises of the VOLMA group, one of the largest manufacturers of building materials had the turnover up by 50%, up to 7.600 tons. ‘Knauf Gips Baskunchak’ — by 28%, up to 4.400 tons. 

Freight One is trying to improve the terms of cooperation with cement producers. Freight One even assigns a fleet of dedicated rolling stock for their partners.

Freight One is the largest privately-owned rail operator in Russia, providing a full range of cargo transportation services. Freight One controls 109,000 units of rolling stock. The regional network of the company is represented by branches in 14 cities of Russia, and the international network nests in Kazakhstan along with one joint venture in Finland.
