Turkmenistan’s Lebap Plant Doubles Production Capacity

The state holding “Turkmencement” intends to double the capacity of the Lebap cement plant In the Lebap province of Turkmenistan up to 2 million tpa due to the construction of the second production line.

The Lebap plant is part of the Turkmencement state holding and is the youngest enterprise in the industry. The first production line with a capacity of about 1 million tons per year was commissioned seven years ago. The plant produces high-strength Portland cement for earthquake zones, grouting and sulphate-resistant cement.

Another cement plant is also planned for construction in Lebap until 2023. The plans for the construction were announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Shamuhammet Durdylyev.

Lebap province has reserves of gypsum, celestine, onyx, facing stones, copper, germanium, cesium, rubidium, tantalum and other rare earth metals. The largest Garlyk potash deposit in Central Asia is located here. In the coming years, they are also planning to build a second phase at the Garlyk mining and processing complex.

Turkmenistan is facing a possible cement production/demand increase due to the new capital city being built in the country. The project may boost the productivity of the country's enterprises up to 6.7 million tons of cement per year (+81%).
