Russian Cement Producer to Build Waste Recycling Facility in Tver Region

“Pikalevskaya Soda”, the company managing the Volkhov cement plant in the Leningrad region will handle waste recycling near Tver. The company received the support of the regional authorities in a 2.5 billion rubles investment project. The recycling facility will be established on the basis of the Tver Glass factory, which went bankrupt in 2017.

At the meeting with “Pikalyovskaya Soda” CEO Maxim Volkov, Tver governor Igor Rudenya confirmed the regional government will provide guarantees as per the agreement signed at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum last year.

In 2019, “Pikalyovskaya Soda” has already invested over 700 million rubles in restoration works at the Tver Glass factory. The total investment should reach 2.5 billion rubles. The plan that was approved includes: expanding the production site, creating additional capacities in both waste processing and glass containers production.

Regional authorities emphasize their support stems from the promise of the investor to provide 550 jobs and budget revenues from an enterprise, that was just an inoperative asset a year ago.

The production site near Tver is the largest project of Pikalevskaya Soda outside the native region.

Volkhov cement plant in the Leningrad Region is capable of producing 240,000 tons of Portland cement per year. The raw material is nepheline sludge — waste from the Volkhov Aluminum Plant. The technology for processing nepheline concentrate was developed in Pikalevo on an industrial scale about 60 years ago (the first time in the world).

Pikalevskaya Soda products are delivered to: Poland, the Czech Republic, India, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Spain, the USA, Great Britain, Mexico, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.
