Yakutcement Now Delivers Gypsum for Cement Production by Rail

For the first time in 48 years, Yakutcement plant of Vostokcement holding company receives gypsum for cement production by rail. Over 70 wagons with gypsum arrived in Yakutia from the Nukutsky district of the Irkutsk region.

Yakutcement used to replenish supplies of gypsum by river transport during a short navigation period. Yakutcement accepted over 27 thousand tons of gypsum and 14 thousand tons of cinder by river transport during the season of 2019. The plant also used river transport to dispatch its products.

In December last year Yakutcement reported that during the navigation period (May-Oct), it dispatched over 272,000 tons of products (115,000 more than a season ago).

Now, the railway makes the supply of gypsum independent from navigation and it can be delivered at any time of the year.

Yakutcement is a supplier of building materials for large construction projects like the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, A331 Vilyuy federal highway. The company is capable of producing 369,000 tons of cement annually. The production site is located 100 km from the republican center — the city of Yakutsk. Since 2014, the plant has been part of Vostokcement holding.
