Fundamentals of grinding technology

The article describes the theoretical concepts underlying the technology of material grinding. The main factors affecting energy consumption in grinding cement are considered. The laws of solids grinding and equations to estimate the parameters of particle size distribution, which determine the properties of cement important from the practical point of view, are given. The mechanism of grinding, the methods for determining the grindability of materials and the factors influencing it are discussed. The possibilities of reducing the specific energy consumption during operation of the mills, in particular, with the use of grinding aids, are analyzed. A comparative analysis of characteristics of different types of grinding equipment is provided.
