Increase in production through the modernization of ID fans.

The efficiency of the kilns and the total volumetric flow of gases discharged by the ID fans from the clinker burning system are directly proportional to each other. ID fans are the key equipment for increasing the capacity of kiln systems.
Modernization or replacement of such process units as a filter or a raw mill require the reconfiguration of smoke exhausters, which must meet the new operating conditions. The possibility to increase the power of the ID fan with minimum interference in the existing infrastructure (foundations and flues) often facilitates the decision to re-equip production.
This article describes the progress of ID fan modernization, starting with performance testing and ending with acceptance tests. Various ways of modernization are discussed: from simple elongation of the impeller blades to the full replacement of the rotor and bearings with a partial modification of the scroll casing. In addition, there are several examples of successful modernization of ID fans by Boldrocchi, which has been producing them for over 100 years.
