Stationary and semi-mobile crushing plants – a comparison: Theoretical considerations

Nowadays, efficient crushing plants can be found in every mining operations of every modern cement works. During past decades, for economic reasons, cement manufacturers usually preferred a stationary crushing plant near to the cement works. However, in case of economic analysis concerning the erection of a new crushing plant or modification of an existing plant, the decision should not only be made from the perspective of the capital expenditure, but the installation costs and the annual running costs should also be taken into consideration. This type of detailed analysis shows that the use of a semi-mobile crushing plant with all its advantages can certainly present a more economical solution. In this article an attempt is made to examine the connection between the investment and operating costs of a stationary and semi-mobile crushing plant, both from the technical as well as the economical point of view taking into account the civil engineering, the opencast mining logistics and the maintenance costs.
