Shuntai Investments has announced plans to build a second cement production line in Zvishavane, located in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province. The EPC contract for the new clinker production line, with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes per day, has been awarded to a Chinese engineering company.

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has supported the carbon capture and storage (CCS) project of Schwenk Latvia. As part of the project, the company plans to install a CCS system at its cement plant in Brocēni, which from 2032 will reduce CO₂ emissions by 0.8 million tonnes annually. This corresponds to around 7 % of Latvia’s total greenhouse gas emissions balance. Total investments in the project are expected to exceed 500 million EUR.

Iraq has commenced cement exports to Syria via the Al-Waleed border crossing, providing additional momentum to bilateral trade and reinforcing the country’s logistics infrastructure. According to government officials, the launch of export operations reflects improved efficiency in border administration and enhanced interagency coordination.

A new player in the construction materials market, LATCEM, has completed a deal to simultaneously acquire control of two leading cement producers in the region – InterCement in Brazil and Loma Negra in Argentina. The transaction marks one of the largest consolidations in the Latin American cement industry in recent years.
