12.07.2023 13:14Closing the loop: Heidelberg Materials to produce low-carbon cement from demolished concrete in France
As part of its decarbonisation strategy, Heidelberg Materials pioneers a large-scale closed-loop recycling project called CIRCO₂BETON®. As a first in France, the company will install an industrial scale selective separation platform at its Achères quarry near Paris, where demolished concrete will be crushed using novel processes and separated into its components: sand, aggregates, and recycled concrete paste (RCP).

Cemex has reached a sales milestone for Vertua net zero CO₂ concrete in Colombia, surpassing 100,000 m3 of this product, enough to fill 40 Olympic-sized swimming pools. This achievement showcases progress towards Cemex’s ambitious goal for its Vertua lower-carbon cement and concrete products to reach more than half of all cement and concrete sales by 2025.
In April, First Graphene (FGR) announced plans for major graphene-enhanced cement trials with a consortium that includes Breedon Cement, Morgan Sindall and the University of Manchester. Now, FGR confirmed the beginning of these trials using the company’s graphene in cement and concrete at the Breedon Group’s Hope Cement Works at Derbyshire in the United Kingdom.

Ramco Cements has commissioned Line-3 at its Ramamasamy Raja Nagar (R R Nagar) plant in Tamil Nadu which boasts of 3,000 tpd capacity of clinkerisation. This is the first integrated cement line commissioned in the last 15 years in the region. The electrical energy requirement for this new line is met through the company's own wind mills.
